SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Multimedia Research Group, the market leader in the Video and Media ecosystem for more than 20 years, is excited to release its comprehensive study IPTV Market Leader Report, 2013, which shows that Microsoft is the only company to lead in more than one category on a global level.

MRG's IPTV Market Leader Reports identify which IPTV systems and software companies are leading each segment: access systems, video headend systems, VOD server software, set-top boxes, middleware and content protection/digital rights management. Data is also segmented by region: North America, CALA, Western/Eastern Europe, Asia Pacific and MEA.

"Many of the changes in the IPTV realm are happening in Eastern Europe, as that region continues to grow and regional vendors benefit ‒ thus the appearance of SmartLabs in the #1 spots for VOD, set-tops and middleware," explained Norm Bogen, MRG's VP of Research. "Microsoft continues to excel in North America, taking the top spots in VOD and content protection due to its relationship with AT&T. Microsoft also leads in VOD for Western Europe, where it has large IPTV providers as customers. Asia's ranks changed, with CASTIS taking the lead in VOD. Finally, Anevia is leading VOD in the Middle East/Africa region for the first time."
