BOSTON -- InfiNet Wireless, a global provider of Broadband Wireless Access and pre-WiMAX equipment for last mile connectivity for private and public networks, today announced the new SkyMAN NG™ universal platform, which for the first time enables fixed and mobile broadband wireless access for WiMAX, Mesh and Wi-Fi networks in a single platform. SkyMAN NG, an 802.16-based system with multiple modules, allows unprecedented flexibility and scope of business applications for operators, public safety responders, service providers and industrial enterprises, as well as for the small to medium enterprise and small office/home office markets.

The SkyMAN NG platform was created by leveraging InfiNet Wireless’ proven track record and vast field experience in extremely challenging environments, as well as its core RF and networking competencies. The product’s unique composition of wireless backhaul, based on InfiMETRO multi-layer mesh topology with distributed wireless switch and access networks, incorporates the functionality of InfiNet’s InfiLAN, InfiMAN and InfiMAX technologies. Its Mesh, OFDM and adaptive antenna selection capabilities provide unique and powerful non-line of sight functionality, and the system allows integration with existing ISP networks with full support of services, control systems and billing.

The universal hardware platform also incorporates full TDM for voice transfer (multiple E1/T1), utilizing minimal network resources, and ensures a solid ROI, as system changes and added functionality are available through software upgrades. Unified authentication, authorization and accounting (AAA) mechanisms for all types of InfiNet access networks greatly simplify subscriber management, regardless of the type of access network the subscriber is connected to.

“Over the past few years, wireless technologies such as WiMAX, Wi-Fi and Mesh networking have been developing simultaneously, at different rates, which has the potential to cause many integration and network upgrade issues,” said Robert Stubblebine, CEO of InfiNet Wireless. “The availability of an advanced platform that incorporates all of these technologies into one powerful tool will ensure optimal wireless network performance, now and into the future.”
