Huawei Showcases World’s First 4-Carrier Aggregation for LTE TDD

February 25, 2013 |
BARCELONA -- Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, today showcased the world’s first 4-Carrier Aggregation (CA) solution for LTE TDD at the 2013 Mobile World Congress. Utilizing leading 4×4 MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) technologies, the solution provides 1 Gb/s data speeds for the industry’s best capacity with a single RRU. The solution establishes a wideband network benchmark, allowing a single user to enjoy higher data speeds on an LTE TDD network than previously possible.

Wireless networks have developed in recent years toward supporting multiple bands and modes as they have evolved toward LTE, and end user demand for higher data rates has grown. Operators are faced with increasing requirements for meeting capacity as well as network expansion and deployment. In this case, operators need to deploy leading carrier aggregation technology, which doubles download speeds for a single user without requiring more capacity.

Huawei’s 4-CA solution for LTE TDD is a part of the company’s GigaSite solution for meeting growing end users demands for higher data speeds. It employs a series of Ultraband RRUs which support 80 MHz and can expand to four carriers with only software upgrades to achieve a 1 Gb/s data speed. Huawei has also launched a similar series of Wideband RRUs for China Mobile’s TD-SCDMA network. The 4- CA solution highlights the importance of wireless network equipment supporting multiple broadband frequencies in order to build easy-to-deploy networks that are suited for long-term development.

Huawei has previously demonstrated 4×4 MIMO 2-CA for LTE TDD, which allows for peak data rates of a single end user to reach 520 Mb/s. In 2013, the chipset series will launch to support end-to-end LTE TDD CA.

Huawei’s solutions for commercial LTE TDD networks enable the best user experience by providing the best network performance, the best convergent and evolved network solutions, and the best end-to-end innovation. To date, Huawei’s vision for LTE TDD has helped operators win continuing business successes throughout the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Europe and Africa.
