Huawei Releases Next-Generation SingleDAS Indoor Coverage Solution at MWC

February 27, 2013 |
BARCELONA -- Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology solutions provider, today released the next generation of its SingleDAS (Distributed Antenna System) indoor coverage solution at the 2013 Mobile World Congress. SingleDAS is suitable for multiple operator and multiple vendor deployments to help rapidly deploy indoor networks and provide users with the best indoor service experience.

Providing top-quality indoor mobile broadband coverage has become vitally important amid the rapid development of mobile broadband (MBB) networks. User demand for better indoor coverage has grown even as deployment costs for indoor sites have become more prohibitive. Traditional indoor coverage solutions are unable to meet expanding MBB requirements for deployments requiring multiple operators and multiple vendors. SingleDAS solves these problems by providing flexible and high-performance indoor deployments supporting scalable capacity expansions and smooth evolution with a unified management system.

SingleDAS saves network TCO by providing one set of equipment that supports full bandwidth and high output power for multi-operator and multi-vendor access. This means the solution provides site sharing and can receive signals from existing outdoor sites, eliminating the need to build additional equipment rooms while making network deployment faster.

With SingleDAS, operators are provided with numerous immediate economic and deployment benefits. Site repeater reliability is effectively doubled to ensure long-term network stability, and signal noise is reduced by 50% to enhance cell edge throughput. 2T2R MIMO support enhances network capacity and saves power consumption by up to 40%, and capacity expansion is made possible with software upgrades alone. SingleDAS also supports multiple network modes, helping realize smooth LTE refarming utilizing existing operator assets.

SingleDAS’s unified management system provides a comprehensive network operation platform that improves O&M efficiency for both SingleDAS and outdoor macro networks.

Zhou Taoyuan, Huawei President for Wireless Network Antenna and IBS Solutions, said: “Indoor coverage is of special concern to operator. SingleDAS helps deploy top-quality indoor networks while effectively reducing network TCO to push operator commercial success to the next level.”
