Celeno Joins Liberty's Video Gateway Lineup

September 10, 2010 |

AMSTERDAM -- Celeno Communications, a leading provider of semiconductors for multimedia Wi-Fi home networking applications, today announced that Liberty Global, Inc. the leading international cable operator, has selected Celeno's Wi-Fi solution to power its multimedia home gateway product, announced earlier this year.

With today's announcement, Celeno is helping to revolutionize home networks by enabling the multimedia home gateway to distribute rich video content to additional screens in the home wirelessly. The multimedia home gateway leverages both Wi-Fi and DLNA, allowing wireless streaming to other client devices in the home. Consumers will enjoy locating set-top boxes flexibly, breaking free from coax locations. This architecture is also easy enough for consumers to self- install, which leads to a cost-effective operation.

"Wireless delivery of video content to multiple video displays is an important part of our home gateway strategy," said Balan Nair, Senior Vice President and CTO at Liberty Global. "Celeno was able to meet our stringent performance requirements. Its Wi-Fi solution demonstrated the level of flexibility required to meet Liberty Globalfs advanced home networking topology."
