Gridpoint Going Off-Grid?

11:05 AM -- CHICAGO -- Supercomm 2009 --It's looking like Gridpoint Systems Inc. has given up the ghost.

Sources say the Ottawa company is wrapping up its affairs. Among those affairs: the Website, which no longer exists.

The phones are still plugged in, but a message left by Light Reading has gone unanswered.

Gridpoint had hoped to latch on to the connection-oriented Ethernet craze and was a proponent of Provider Backbone Bridging - Traffic Engineering (PBB-TE, formerly known as PBT). Gridpoint certainly wasn't a major force in the industry, but the PBB-TE camp can't be too happy about losing a supporter. (See IEEE to Rubber-Stamp PBB-TE and MPLS-TP vs. PBB-TE.)
