STOCKHOLM and NEW YORK CITY -- Telia Carrier today announced a partnership with Pilot, which has deployed its IP Transit services throughout the northeastern U.S. These services enable Pilot to expand its regional infrastructure, support backbone traffic and enhance the end-user experience. Pilot’s high-IQ fiber-optic internet offers businesses speeds of up to 10 Gigabits per second in offices and 100 Gbit/s in data centers. Pilot has worked with Telia Carrier for the past two years to provide seamless solutions to more than 1,250 businesses and 75,000 end users.

Sustained customer demand for digital content from financial institutions, healthcare organizations, and other businesses is driving the increasing need for high-bandwidth, high-capacity, high-performance connectivity. Telia Carrier’s global footprint of high-speed services allows Pilot to provide its customers with broadband speeds that are 200 times faster than services offered by other providers in the Northeast.

"Businesses today demand the highest-quality online experience to best serve their customers. Pilot started its business with this understanding and is committed to providing the highest-speed, most resilient, dedicated bandwidth," said Rob Pulkownik, director of Market Development, Telia Carrier, Inc. "The fact that Pilot chose Telia Carrier to deliver services to meet these demands highlights our ability to turn up services quickly and provide a resilient, global backbone at the highest speeds available. We’re committed to partnering with Pilot to help them better serve their customers."

"Pilot was founded on the belief that businesses deserve guaranteed connectivity and a service that gives consumers the experience they want. We’ve always been focused on taking care of our customers, no matter their size," said Christian Koch, manager of core network planning at Pilot. "Telia Carrier has been a true partner to Pilot as we continue to realize our vision of delivering uninterrupted, dedicated broadband connectivity to customers at speeds of up to 200 times faster than the competition. Telia Carrier delivers a superior customer experience, technical excellence, and true value to our business. We look forward to continuing to expand our network across the U.S. with Telia Carrier, a reliable, valued partner that offers us a great business proposition."

Telia Carrier is guided by a set of principles, known as the Carrier Declarations. These include challenging everything by constantly looking for new ways to do things better, daring to share as much information as possible with customers, through transparency and openness and giving power to the user, because their needs are ultimately the driving force behind the connectivity industry itself. These principles are key to Telia Carrier’s partnership with Pilot.

Telia Carrier’s global fiber backbone has grown organically, without acquisitions, and was the first to be 100G-enabled in both Europe and North America. It was also the first network to successfully transmit 1 terabits per second in super channels on its U.S. network. According to Dyn Research’s global backbone rankings, Telia Carrier’s global IP backbone AS1299, is currently ranked as number one. Telia Carrier’s rapid growth and ascension through the rankings was highlighted in Dyn’s "Baker’s Dozen" report. The company enables worldwide connectivity by connecting more than 230 Points of Presence (PoPs) across Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East, including more than 80 PoPs in North America alone.

A CSP's digital transformation involves so much more than technology. Crucial – and often most challenging – is the cultural transformation that goes along with it. As Sigma's Chief Technology Officer, Catherine Michel has extensive experience with technology as she leads the company's entire product portfolio and strategy. But she's also no stranger to merging technology and culture, having taken a company — Tribold — from inception to acquisition (by Sigma in 2013), and she continues to advise service providers on how to drive their own transformations. This impressive female leader and vocal advocate for other women in the industry will join Women in Comms for a live radio show to discuss all things digital transformation, including the cultural transformation that goes along with it.
