The latest report from Rutberg & Co. finds that between Feb. 1 and Feb. 28, 82 private mobile companies reported $813.6 million in new financing. The analysts say the funding mainly went to the enterprise infrastructure, consumer application and mobile media infrastructure sectors.
The top three earners for the month were:
AirWatch: An Atlanta-based company that provides mobile device management systems to business customers. The company got $200 million from Insight Venture Partners.
TruPhone: This London-based company develops low cost voice-over-IP software. The company got $118 million in February from the Russian business tycoon Roman Abramovich, who is currently worth over $10 billion, according to Forbes.
Mobilitie: A Newport Beach, Calif.-based company that provides tower management and other telecoms infrastructure services. The company got $100 million from Shamrock Capital Advisors.
Bubbling under this month were medical software providers and a raft of media and social app providers grabbing VC funding.
