SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- KeyEye Communications, Inc., a leader in low power semiconductor transceivers for 10 gigabit per second (10Gbps) copper-media communications, announced today the appointment of Chuck Fox as President and CEO. He also joins KeyEye’s board of directors. Fox brings extensive strategic, operational and marketing expertise from industry leaders Intel and Xilinx, coupled with extensive fabless startup experience.

“Reducing the cost and power usage of 10Gbps communications over structured copper cabling is a difficult but necessary requirement for next-generation data centers,” said Mr. Fox. “It is clear that KeyEye’s vision of single-chip low-power 10GBASE-T transceivers will enable dramatic improvements in port density and accelerate the growth in 10Gbps deployments.”

Most recently, Fox was President and CEO of Chameleon Systems, a high-performance DSP processor company, and Vice-President of Marketing for Cradle Technologies, a multi-processor DSP chip company serving high-performance video markets. At Xilinx, he was instrumental in growing a small private company into a multi-billion dollar FPGA-industry leader as both Vice-President of Worldwide Marketing and Division General Manager. Before Xilinx, Fox spent 10 years in management positions at Intel in the microprocessor, peripheral and ASIC divisions.

“Chuck’s breadth of semiconductor management experience will ensure KeyEye’s success in bringing standards compliant 10Gbps solutions to market,” said Hal Calhoun, Managing Director at Menlo Ventures. “His proven leadership skills will provide a solid foundation for future growth.”
