Once again, VMware is among those spending big on mobile management in a BYOD world.
Crittercism, a mobile app performance management startup, revealed Wednesday that it has scored $30 million in its latest round of funding and plans to expand the company and its platform's capabilities.
Crittercism revealed on its company blog that Scale Venture Partners, InterWest Partners , and VMware Inc. (NYSE: VMW) have stumped up $30 million in a series C round.
The firm has raised nearly $49 million since March 2011 and manages 1 billion active mobile users as of March 2014. It says it now employs more than 70 people worldwide.
Crittercism says it will use the money to expand internationally and add engineering, support, sales, and marketing staff. The company's CEO, Andrew Levy, also says in the blog that it has "just scratched the surface of mobile performance management" and plans to add more monitoring and transaction capabilities to its platform, among other things.
VMWare has been spending large on mobile management investments recently as the bring-your-own-device (BYOD) trend continues to grow. The firm bought the extravagantly funded mobile management company AirWatch LLC for more than $1.5 billion in January. (See VMware to Buy AirWatch for $1.54B.)
It appears that Crittercism is another up and comer to watch in the mobile management space.
