Optical Network Unit (ONU)

Equipment that sits at the customer's end of a Passive Optical Network (PON) or fiber-to-the-home connection. Because it has to be deployed in such volumes, ONUs have to be inexpensive.

These devices are also referred to as optical network terminals (ONTs).
