Ex-Juniper Exec Now Running Brocade
The news was announced Monday afternoon. Brocade's former CEO, Mike Klayko, had announced his pending retirement in August.
The reasons weren't made clear, but it probably has less to do with Brocade's performance and more to do with unsuccessful efforts to sell the company.
Carney's last job was as CEO of Xsigo, which got acquired by Oracle last fall. The deal amusingly turned Xsigo, which sells virtual I/O platforms, into a "software-defined networking" (SDN) company, according to Oracle's headline writers. (See Oracle Gets More Virtual by Buying Xsigo.)
In other prior jobs, Carney was chief operating officer of Juniper and CEO of Micromuse, which was sold to IBM Corp.
