EuroProfile: UBIqube

In these days of overblown marketing hype and grandiose mission statements, it's refreshing to come across a company that has as its company motto just three little words: "Keep it simple."

The company in question is Service Provider Information Technology (SPIT) specialist UBiqube Plc , a French outfit that describes itself on its website as a "global integrated network, security and VoIP management solution vendor."

Its main product is MSActivator, which, the company claims, brings device provisioning, monitoring and security reporting "under a single pane of glass," enabling the rollout of services "on any device from any vendor."

UBIqube's CEO, Nabil Souli, isn't your average CEO. He not known for courting the media and hasn't issued a press release since 2010: UBIqube's work with Cisco Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: CSCO), its main partner, speaks volumes for what is company is doing, he has told Light Reading in the past. (See UBIqube's OSS Supports Cisco.)

Historical media announcements show, though, that the company has made inroads with service providers in multiple markets, even though it declined to identify any key customers when questioned for this profile. (See Completel Uses UBIqube, Cisco and Lattelecom Uses UBIqube.)

In fact, as you can see from the table below, the UBIqube team isn't keen on talking about much other than its market focus.

CEO Souli did, at least, reveal the identity of his favorite movie, and it's one that is proving quite popular among telecom sector professionals. The Hangover is, from the looks of it, a screwball comedy about "groomsmen" (or "stag do" in proper English) on the loose in Vegas. Ingmar Bergman-esque, it's fairly safe to say, it ain't....

Assistant Editor, Europe, Light Reading

Paul is based on the Isle of Wight, a rocky outcrop off the English coast that is home only to a colony of technology journalists and several thousand puffins.

He has worked as a writer and copy editor since the age of William Caxton, covering the design industry, D-list celebs, tourism and much, much more.

During the noughties Paul took time out from his page proofs and marker pens to run a small hotel with his other half in the wilds of Exmoor. There he developed a range of skills including carrying cooked breakfasts, lying to unwanted guests and stopping leaks with old towels.

Now back, slightly befuddled, in the world of online journalism, Paul is thoroughly engaged with the modern world, regularly firing up his VHS video recorder and accidentally sending text messages to strangers using a chipped Nokia feature phone.
