Ericsson Defends Iran Position

9:25 AM -- Ericsson AB (Nasdaq: ERIC) could soon be facing a barrage of criticism following the publication of a Reuters report that details the Swedish vendor's ongoing business in Iran.

The article cites an Ericsson spokesman saying the vendor has not struck any new business in Iran -- which is currently subject to various sanctions -- in recent times and is only honoring long-standing agreements.

But as Ericsson will know from the experience of rivals such as Nokia Networks , Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. and ZTE Corp. (Shenzhen: 000063; Hong Kong: 0763), such comments cut little ice with the critics.
