NextPoint Networks Update

2:50 PM -- It's been almost two weeks since I checked in on NextPoint Networks, which was right around the time that sources told us a merger between NexTone Communications Inc. and Reef Point Systems Inc. was in the works. (See NexTone-Reef Point Merger in Works and NexTone-Reef Point Merger (Still) Coming.)

Last time I checked www.nextpointnetworks.com, the site was "Coming Soon" and was being hosted on NexTone nameservers. According to a WHOIS search, the site is still on NexTone's servers, but the domain now points to a blank page.

Perhaps more interesting is the updated WHOIS record for NexTone's site. Last I looked, "NextPoint Networks" was listed as the owner and administrative contact of the NexTone site, but that has since been changed. Apparently NexTone was able to wrangle control of its domain back from the mysterious non-entity.

What does it all mean? Probably nothing. I just wanted to point out that someone at NexTone switched the records around while we weren't looking.
