PARIS -- Cirpack has announced version 4.2 of its SBC (Session Border Controller) product portfolio which includes IPv4/IPv6 interoperability.

In the light of the inevitable upcoming shortage of IPv4 addresses, Cirpack has decided to contribute to the now essential process of IPv4/IPv6 migration by proposing an SBC solution for its operator customers who seek to guarantee the interoperability of their own VoIP access and control equipment. Cirpack's new SBC version 4.2 allows users to migrate smoothly from IPv4 to IPv6 while keeping costs under control. More importantly, the operator's network remains fully operational, and end users are totally oblivious of the interoperation of VoIP communications from IPv4 and IpV6 addresses.

"Operators are very pragmatic about the need to change their network architecture to handle mixed IP addresses. While the equipment for the IPv4/IPv6 migration is ready, the only issue is the configuration of subscriber equipment (residential Boxes mostly) and access and interconnection IP network equipment. It's no small thing to manage network transition on this scale since it requires changing the parameters on the entire chain made up of different equipment from multiple suppliers", says Kim I, Cirpack Product Director. He continues: "as for us, we are focusing on the goal of ensuring smooth migration while allowing the diversity of IP addresses."

In addition to interoperability, version 4.2 of Cirpack's SBC paves the way for 4G fixed/mobile convergence in the area of VoLTE and IMS for multimedia communication over IP.
