FOXBORO, Mass. -- Telco Systems/BATM Advanced Communications (LSE ticker: BVC), a worldwide leader in designing and supplying carrier-class IP packet-based systems, today announced that, it has finalized an agreement to acquire ComGates, an IP platform company specializing in V²oIP (Voice & Video over IP).

The complimentary ComGates technology will be implemented in Telco Systems’/BATM’s VoIP product line, which includes its EdgeGate CPE VoIP gateway, and the new Access201. The EdgeGate CPE VoIP products provide voice, video, and data gateways in Fiber-to-the-Home and Business (FTTH/B) solutions.

The Access201 Analog VoIP Gateway, just introduced in December, is the first in a line of copper-fed customer premises equipment (CPE) to be added to Telco Systems’ field-proven VoIP product line. This first gateway supports two voice ports and one Ethernet port. It is specifically designed for residential and small office, home office (SOHO) applications, and permits the use of traditional analog telephones and fax machines over IP networks. The Access201 enables service providers to offer customers the benefits of emerging broadband IP applications without having to replace existing telephony infrastructures.

In addition to acquiring all physical and intellectual assets of ComGates, Mr. Jacob Tirosh, the founder and CEO of ComGates, will join BATM as Vice President, Chief Business Officer of the Asia-Pacific region. He brings to BATM more than two decades of experience in telecommunications technology, infrastructure, and service. Prior to Founding ComGates, Mr. Tirosh served in Senior Executive positions in Arbinet , was CEO of A.T.R communications and Co-owner and Co-C.E.O in Conlab control laboratories. ComGates, established in late 1998, developed platforms that address the major technology and service needs for the growing V²oIP (Voice & Video over IP) industry. ComGates’ softswitch platform and its related components provide softswitch, gateway and SLA aware functions compatible with all existing and emergent standards in both the telephony and Internet domains.

Dr Zvi Marom, BATM’s Chief Executive today said “The acquisition of ComGates and the addition of Jacob Tirosh to our team will play an important role in the future of our company."
