9:05 AM -- Software Development Times is reporting that Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) is developing its own router, apparently due to dissatisfaction with Junos.

That's certainly believable, considering Juniper Networks Inc. (NYSE: JNPR) keeps Junos on an unyielding release schedule that ensures all customers are running the same version of the software. Google would be the kind of customer to get impatient with that.

SD Times seems to describe Google as Juniper's lifeblood, but the only customers lately that have contributed more than 10 percent of Juniper's revenues in a given quarter have been Nokia Networks and Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE: VZ).

Yes, a 9.9 percent revenue drop -- even a 3 percent drop -- would be awful for any company, so maybe there's reason for concern. "Doom," as SD Times put it, might be a stretch.
