Nokia: Touching 3G

NOON -- There's a lot of buzz going on about a Nokia Corp. (NYSE: NOK) rival to the iPhone. The 5800 "tube" is supposedly a touch-screen 3G phone with 140MB of storage and all multimedia mod-cons.

Yep, another so-called iPhone killer. [Ed note: Rolls eyes.]

Bear in mind -- as this latest round of hype grows -- that Nokia has already said that it is working on a touchscreen device but isn't going to rush devices out. (See Nokia: Keep Your Hands to Yourself.)

The firm plans to have a touch interface for the S60 operating system out later this year, which would likely push the launch of actual devices out until next year.
