Huawei plans to add several hundred new jobs in Plano, Texas

PLANO, Texas -- Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. , a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, today celebrated the official expansion of its North American Headquarters in Plano, Texas. The new, expanded 103,330-square-foot facility includes a state-of-the-art customer demonstration center, a test lab as well as a technical assistance center (TAC), demonstrating Huawei’s continued dedication to technology innovation and local job growth.

Huawei has created more than 1,000 jobs in the US, approximately 600 of which are based in Plano. Over the next three years, Huawei plans to add several hundred new jobs in the Plano area alone.

In 2009, Huawei procured over $5.1 billion worth of goods and services from US-based companies. Approximately $2 billion of Huawei’s procurements since 2005 have been from Texas-based companies. Huawei is also strongly committed to the local communities, including valuable donations to the North Texas Food Bank and Children’s Medical Center at Legacy, and sponsorship of local clothing and food drives.

Since establishing its North American headquarters in Plano in 2001, Huawei has expanded to 13 offices and 8 R&D centers throughout North America.
