Huawei and Huawei-3Com held an IPv6 press conference to exhibit products, solutions, and a serial of application achievement

SHENZHEN, China -- Recently, Huawei and Huawei-3Com held an IPv6 commercial products press conference in Beijing, during which they also exhibit products, solutions and a serial of application achievement in the area of IPv6.

As a leading player in the data communications industry, Huawei started to follow up and study IPv6 from 1996. Huawei and Huawei-3Com have attained outstanding achievements and have been successfully awarded more than 10 patents pertaining to IPv6. Based on years of accumulation, Huawei and Huawei-3Com have now become a pioneer in this area. Presently, Huawei and Huawei-3Com have the relative platform which supports IPv6 effectively; their network operation system VRP5 can fully support IPv6, and all serials of routers can support the features of IPv6. Huawei is actually the first company that has the IPv6 high-end routers to pass network testing by China’s MII and put into trial application. These products include Quidway NetEngine 16E/08E/05.

Based on the mass commercial application of the high-end Quidway NetEngine products, Huawei has set up an IPv6 network together with the Chinese Academy of Science. This IPv6 network can bear multiple kinds of IPv6 throughput such as network testing, network monitoring, WEB, Video, VoIP and E-mail.

It is said that IPv6 has become a resplendent technology in the industry of data communications. Since last October, China declared to kick off the project of CNGI, and will construct the largest IPv6 network at the end of 2005, which has already attracted the eyes of the world. During April 12-14, the 3rd Global IPv6 Forum was held in Beijing, which further enhanced the application of IPv6 in China. On the forum, the chairman, Mr. Latif Ladid, declared that “China will become the largest market of IPv6 and killer applications of IPv6 will first appear in China”.
