Telco Systems Launches SDN/NFV Migration Strategy

PARIS -- Telco Systems, a BATM company (LSE: BVC, TASE: BATM) and a leading provider of CE 2.0 multi‐service Carrier Ethernet and MPLS edge access solutions for mobile backhaul, business Ethernet services and cloud networking, has announced their intention to shift the focus of their offering in preparation for the imminent technology revolution surrounding the SDN and NFV concepts. While Carrier Ethernet 2.0 (CE 2.0) is being widely adopted in the industry, new technologies are emerging in service provider networks: Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV). Telco System seeks to answer the needs of service providers with a comprehensive evolution plan for transitioning Carrier Ethernet 2.0 to SDN and NFV architectures. Leveraging their vast customer experience, technology leadership as a network edge provider, and new vision to support service providers as they transform their networks into IT aware transport NFV architectures networks, Telco Systems is evaluating their current portfolio in order to ramp up their offering to meet the networking needs demanded by the array of new technologies hitting the telecommunications market. By utilizing SDN and, and adopting those to the specific requirements of service providers, Telco Systems will empower service providers with open, flexible and highly innovative networks.

Software defined networking and networking functions virtualization are in the prime of their hype cycle, but adopting SDN and NFV architectures in service providers’ networks is raising many questions.People are wondering if CE 2.0 capabilities exist in SDN, they want to know what the main benefits of SDN are, and most importantly, they want to know what the best migration strategy is for bringing their networks to a level of preparedness for supporting SDN. Telco Systems endeavors to resolve those concerns with an evolution strategy that leverages the advantages of CE 2.0 and SDN for service provider networks.

Many tier 1 service providers like AT&T (T), Verizon (VZ), Deutsche Telekom (DTE), France Telecom(FT), Telefonica (TEF), and others are pushing the SDN and NFV concepts. They seek to enable new services and applications, support new business models and simplify dynamic network management. SDN provides a solution to the clear needs of the service provider by offering higher agility, granular services, automated processes, and openness. Telco Systems aims to propagate these solutions while meeting the necessary requirements with their dynamic Carrier Ethernet to SDN evolution approach,enabling service providers to transition their networks towards this new technology.

Telco Systems’ is working on bolstering their portfolio with a complete set of products, both hardware and software, designed to evolve networks to be application aware and application portable. At the MPLS SDN World Congress event this week, Telco Systems will be presenting their new Carrier Ethernet 2.0 to SDN and NFV evolution solution to selected key tier 1 customers and various analysts. “We would like to enable our customers to harness the information running in their network and enable them to offer diverse types of services while dramatically reducing time to market,” stated Nir Halachmi, Director of Strategic Product Management and Innovation in Telco Systems. “We see the popularity of these new technologies as an opportunity to provide an enablement platform to accelerate and orchestrate service providers' service delivery through our updated product portfolio and software applications. The combination of our telco grade expertise at the network edge, the reduced cost of embedding processing power at the access, and our strong software focus merges to offer a flexible and agile solution to evolve current CE 2.0 networks into the future SDN and NFV supported networks”.
