3:00 PM -- Oh my god. The cubeless office.

It's not startups that are throwing out cubicles, according to the Mercury News article. It's Cisco Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: CSCO), Intel Corp. (Nasdaq: INTC), and Sun Microsystems Inc. -- and, of course, Google (Nasdaq: GOOG).

Yet another case of the Valley stealing something that Xerox's Palo Alto Research Center (PARC) did a couple of decades ago. Say, I wonder if Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) has gone cubeless yet.

I suppose the setup could be invigorating, if you're collaborating with colleagues on projects. But balance that with having no shield from the guy who clips his toenails on his desk.

And check the link for a photo of these little armchairs with desktops attached. They look dorky and uncomfortable. Looks like somebody call Ikea.
