STOCKHOLM -- The use of mobile broadband is spreading rapidly in Poland. In 2011 mobile broadband usage was 55 percent, a steady and significant increase from 20 percent in 2009. The increase in mobile broadband users has challenged network operators to provide significantly more capacity, while maintaining network performance. With this solution from Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC), Polska Telefonia Cyfrowa S.A. (PTC), operator of T-Mobile brand, can address the increasing demand for data. Ericsson will supply T-Mobile with its industry-leading MINI-LINK SP Packet aggregation nodes, Ericsson SPO 1400 Packet Optical Transport and IP Transport network management system products. T-Mobile will gain simple and cost-effective network migration from TDM (Time Division Multiplexing) to high-performance packet networking based on MPLS-TP (Multiprotocol Label Switching Transport Profile) with a complete end-to-end managed mobile backhaul solution from Ericsson. Ericsson is also providing deployment, support and spare parts management services as part of the solution. Anders Runevad, President of RWCE at Ericsson, says: "PTC, operator of T-Mobile brand, is an exceptional partner for Ericsson. Our companies have cooperated together for 17 years. The mobile backhaul migration provides superior network quality, through a simple and scalable solution. It offers speed and reliability and meets the subscriber demands for more bandwidth and the best possible broadband experience for our customers." Ericsson AB
