Ellacoya Introduces New Service Control Switch

Ellacoya Networks has introduced a new IP service control switch, dubbed the e30. With the ability to support more 64,000 broadband subscribers, the e30 offers twice the performance of Ellacoya's existing 16000 Switch. Ellacoya says the e30 is shipping and deployed in several service provider networks in North America, Europe and Asia. Additionally, Ellacoya released version 5.5 of its embedded switch software, which offers MPLS awareness as well a detection and management capabilities for SIP traffic, among other features. Besides boosting its box capacity, Ellacoya is differentiating its service control solution with centralized management capabilities. Called Service Logic Software (SLS), Ellacoya says it is the industry's only solution that offers broadband providers system-wide management of all installed service control switches from a central point. This capability, which enables a simpler OSS interface, is essential as broadband providers move from using service control switches to simply monitor and shape traffic to actually delivering enhanced IP applications and services. Finally, Ellacoya announced it has strengthened its partnership with ARRIS. Through the expanded OEM agreement, ARRIS will provide worldwide distribution and support for Ellacoya's entire product line under the ARRIS brand.
