EANTC Adds SDN to Test

January 03, 2013 |
BERLIN -- EANTC (European Advanced Networking Test Center) will include Software Defined Networking (SDN) in the annual multi-vendor Carrier Ethernet/MPLS/IPv6 interoperability test event for the first time. In the context of service provider networks, EANTC’s interoperability test will explore service provider use cases such as network slicing, SDN for LTE backhaul, as well as SDN for dynamic Carrier Ethernet services. The results of the test will be showcased at Upperside’s co-located MPLS & Ethernet World Congress, V6 World Congress, and SDN Summit in Paris, March 19-22, 2013.

“We proudly organize the first public SDN interoperability test event in Europe, simultaneously being the first showcase worldwide integrating SDN with established MPLS, Carrier Ethernet, Mobile Backhaul, and IPv6 technologies,” said Carsten Rossenhoevel, Managing Director, EANTC. Participating vendors will construct an end-to-end test network during three weeks of hot-staging at EANTC’s lab in Berlin, Germany. “In Paris, we will demonstrate tangible use cases that service providers attending the congress can utilize as wide area network design blue prints,” Carsten explained further.

“EANTC’s interoperability showcase is important to independently validate the state of the art of SDN and OpenFlow in the service provider space, specifically interfacing with non-OpenFlow infrastructure,” said Mike Haugh, Testing & Interoperability Working Group Chair, Open Networking Foundation. “The ONF supports this showcase as part of our activities to progress the evolution and success of software-defined networking by testing vendor solutions in a real-world service provider environment.”
