CALABASAS, Calif. -- E2O Communications, Inc., a leading manufacturer of fiber optic transceivers for optical communications, has introduced a 12-channel, 2.5 Gbps VCSEL-based, parallel transmitter/receiver link pair for fiber optic communication systems. This 30 Gbps aggregate-throughput unit supports the emerging OIF Very Short Reach Standard specification and is ideal for FO Backplane, Digital Cross Connect, and Custom Applications. The products are designated the EM12T250 Series (transmitter) and EM12R250 Series (receiver). The units quickly have followed E2O’s initial offerings of this type, the EM4T250 Series and EM4R250 Series 4-channel, 2.5 Gbps parallel transmitter/receiver link pair.

In a separate release:

E2O Communications, Inc., a leading manufacturer of fiber optic transceivers for optical communications, has introduced a long-wavelength (LW) laser transceiver product line for use in fiber optic transmission systems. The ES Model Series will be available in a choice of 1310 or 1550 nm versions based on Fabry-Perot (FP) or distributed feedback (DFB) laser types, to support Metro Area Network (MAN), Wide Area Network (WAN) Internetworking and SONET/SDH Telecom applications.

The laser transceivers will be available in two configurations:

1] 2 x 5 (two rows of 5 pins) SFF (small-form-factor) LC-connector SONET OC-48 /SDH STM-16 Serial Data-Only Transceiver –This model is the "Flagship" of the E2O’s LW product line. It is destined for use in Internetworking, Business Access, and MAN communications equipment. Pricing for the short-reach version is under $400 (under $550 for the intermediate-reach version) in moderate order quantities.

2] 2 x 10 (two rows of 10 pins) SFF LC-connector SONET OC-48/SDH STM-16 (2.488 Gbps) Serial CDR (clock and data recovery) Transceiver – This model integrates the CDR and monitor functions demanded by some OEMs.
