3:15 PM -- Welcome. You don’t have to be a day trader to notice the Nasdaq is getting hammered good these days. While markets are cyclical and all, let’s look at the absolute core fundamental at work here: The day of the PC, at least as an engine of growth and innovation, is rapidly coming to an end.
Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq: MSFT) totally killed off any possibility of further innovation in software -- absent a business plan specifying an endgame of acquisition by Microsoft, who in their right mind would write innovative code for the PC? Windows is a bloated monstrosity that’s downright painful to use. I can’t wait for Vista (and Office 2007) so Triumph the Insult Comic Dog can poop on them.
And Intel Corp. (Nasdaq: INTC)? They spend their time in fruitless competition with Advanced Micro Devices (NYSE: AMD) to see who can build the most cost-effective implementation of a chip that executes instructions -- no new value-add there. And if you understand VIIV, please explain it to me.
The PC and that latest in a long line of information-systems architectures, client/server computing, are done. Stick a fork in'em. It’s over. Time to move on.
And this is why all of the talented people who built computers and networks will move on to mobile information systems. The next era is one of infocentricity: Computers don’t matter; access to information does -- anytime, anywhere, as the saying goes. Now, I’m not going to say that the desktop or notebook PC is doomed. Oh, what the heck, I am indeed. The future belongs to thin clients wirelessly connected to virtualized servers. Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) has it right, maybe even with the advertising.
Anyway, there’s money -- lots of it -- yet to be made in mobility, and that is indeed good for us, both suppliers, and more importantly, customers.

I must agree, 'The next era is one of infocentricity: Computers don’t matter; access to information does -- anytime, anywhere...' Today, computer and software innovations are not major achievements anymore; they are enhancements of what already is. But information greedy, social/local network addicted, and entertainment starved public must have connectivity in order to satisfy their needs. This new need for connectivity has initiated a brand new business space: pioneering companies taking the next step in connectivity – Meshing: Next generation wireless networking. The pull by market demand to deliver fast, reliable and cost effective mesh networks is causing a massive shift in the wireless networking market, with WISPs and system integrators poised to invest in technologies that will offer cost-effective wireless mesh internet connectivity, VoIP, and other multimedia services throughout residential homes, metro-areas, and hard-to-wire/remote locations.
