AUSTIN, Texas -- Buffalo Technology, a
global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of wireless
and wired networking, storage and memory solutions announced today it
is the first WLAN vendor to make available via retail the highly
anticipated IEEE 802.11n draft specification Wi-Fi solutions. The
products are immediately available online at
http://www.pcconnection.com and include the AirStation(tm) Nfiniti
Wireless Router and AP (WZR-G300N), the AirStation(tm) Nfiniti Wireless
PCI Adapter (WLI-PCI-G300N) and the AirStation(tm) Nfiniti Wireless
Notebook Adapter (WLI-CB-G300N).
The latest additions to Buffalo's high-performance line of wireless
networking solutions are designed to far surpass the speed and
performance of current Wi-Fi solutions, including those with speed and
range enhancing technology. With the ability to produce data rates near
300Mbps, the new 802.11n draft specification products are ideally
suited for applications that demand greater bandwidth such as VoIP or
high definition video. Buffalo's new products also boast improved
stability for wireless streaming, increased security and enhanced
wireless range.
Buffalo's new products comply with the newly approved 1.0 draft status.
Task Group N of the IEEE 802.11 committee unanimously approved on
January 19, 2006 a joint proposal to amend the IEEE 802.11 standard by
adding specifications such as MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) and
20Mhz and 40Mhz channels, which will ultimately increase wireless
network connection speeds, to as much as 600Mbps by the time the
standard is ratified. Draft 802.11n also offers compatibility with any
legacy 802.11b/802.11g WLAN device. The IEEE expects to ratify the
standard in 2007. Buffalo has worked closely with the IEEE and leading
wireless chipset manufacturers to ensure superior performance and
compatibility with existing Wi-Fi solutions. The company's new wireless
solutions are based on the Intensi-fi(tm) draft 802.11n chipset by
Broadcom.
"Buffalo was a pioneer of 802.11g technology, being first to market
with superior, forward-looking solutions that revolutionized and
defined a new lifestyle, which includes hot spots, wireless gaming and
wireless streaming of multimedia content throughout the home or
office," stated Morikazu Sano, senior vice president of global
marketing at Buffalo Technology. "The market has been waiting for
techno-savvy solutions that complement their bandwidth intense digital
lifestyles. We are thrilled to make these products immediate available
to our customers, allowing us to once again set the pace for the
next-generation of WLAN solutions and immediately offer customers the
speed, stability and security necessary to handle any modern-day
application."
