UNSTRUNG TV

Unstrung TV’s broadcast-quality broadband video service provides
enterprise IT users with entertaining and educational programming
on critical wireless technology issues.

Now is your chance to get involved!

Broadband video provides a unique opportunity for suppliers of wireless technologies to educate their customers – using a technology that many customers are themselves rushing to deploy.

For broadband video to be an effective tool, it has to be implemented correctly. That means two things:

  • Broadcast quality
  • High-value content

Unstrung is in a unique position to offer this entirely new concept in technology publishing. In May 2005, our parent company, Light Reading, launched LRTV, establishing a loyal following among visitors, who have viewed more than 175,000 documentaries and interviews (an average of 9,200 per week).

Unstrung TV offers the same exciting format as LRTV. Each week, new programming will debut on the Unstrung homepage, where 102,000 unique monthly visitors can view it.

Broadcast Quality

While most online video programming today is produced in the style of corporate video, Unstrung has invested in world-class staff, equipment, network infrastructure, and editing resources to make Unstrung TV the highest-quality broadband video service available. Everything on Unstrung TV – from the camera operators to the graphics and editing – is as required to meet the stringent quality standards of broadcast television.

As well as ensuring that Unstrung TV looks absolutely professional, this investment delivers another fundamental benefit to sponsors: These state-of-the-art programs can be easily re-purposed for sponsors’ own promotional and communication activities.

Quality Content

Unstrung TV programming adheres to the same authoritative, entertaining, and independent editorial formula that differentiates the Unstrung site itself. Sponsors work closely with Unstrung’s experienced journalists to develop scripts that help focus industry expertise on relevant and compelling content. In addition, you can also expect the full support of Light Reading's highly respected independent market research division, Heavy Reading.

2006 Documentary Program Guide

Unstrung TV’s primary focus is on developing and producing documentary-style programming that examines significant technology trends in enterprise wireless networking and mobile data initiatives. The target audience for these documentaries includes:

  • 102,000-plus monthly visitors to Unstrung
  • The former readers of CMP’s Mobile Pipeline (now merged with Unstrung)

Planned programming for 2006 includes:

  • RFID
  • Fixed/Mobile Convergence
  • 802.11 WiFi
  • VOIP Over WLAN
  • Enterprise OS
  • Mobile Enterprise Applications
  • MVNOs
  • WiFi Mesh
  • Mobility and Location Services
  • Mobile Search Engines
  • WiMax

In addition, Unstrung TV produces custom programming focused on issues and technologies specific to sponsors’ own requirements, providing a unique opportunity for anyone seeking a greater share of voice in today’s competitive wireless networking market.

Custom programming does more than focus the sponsor’s message. It allows the sponsor to effectively own the message it wants to deliver to the audience it wants to reach – backed by the editorial integrity of the wireless industry’s leading B2B publication.

2006/7 Special Reports

Throughout 2006/7, Unstrung TV will be presenting a series of Special Reports from the world's leading wireless events. These video news magazines will feature analyses of the key trends and new technologies on show as well as interviews with leading industry figures in attendance.

These exclusive programs allow sponsors to demonstrate their thought leadership and extend the reach of show-specific messages to a worldwide audience.

Getting Involved

Unstrung TV provides sponsors with the opportunity to do far more than just put their logos on our programming. We’re looking for content partners, or technology educators, to help us produce these documentaries. This is the same content collaboration process that underlies our industry-leading Webinar program.

Unstrung TV producers work with leading suppliers of the technology under examination to develop a documentary that takes the audience on a tour of the subject – including customer interviews, executive comment, product and deployment information, and original market research data provided by Heavy Reading.

Unstrung TV is a full-service program: The Unstrung TV team does everything, including writing the script, setting up locations, getting clearance to use library footage and music, developing graphics, hiring film crew and talent, and editing the piece to meet your specific goals.

We also will secure interviews on your behalf with high-profile users, analysts, and other industry mavens that add authority and value to the piece.

Promotion

Unstrung TV is broadcast via a dedicated broadband channel to more than 102,000 unique monthly visitors to the Unstrung site. These include enterprise users, service providers, financial institutions, utility companies, and government sector IT professionals.

All Unstrung TV programming enjoys substantial promotional support across the Light Reading network of publications, including links embedded in articles, banner ads, and email blasts to CMP’s database of more than 859,000 wireless decision makers and to nearly 60,000 subscribers to the largest-circulation wireless newsletter, Unstrung Weekly. All this drives audiences to the content.

Unstrung TV epitomizes the power of broadband television to reach technology users. Enjoying unparalleled support by the industry's leading wireless networking publication, Unstrung TV ensures that your message is delivered to an on-target audience in the most compelling fashion.
