VOIP Peering Launches in St. LouisSeptember 21, 2005 | Post a comment
no ratings ST. LOUIS, Missouri -- Bandwidth Exchange Buildings, owners and operators of the most heavily wired real estate in St. Louis, and Stealth Communications, have formed an alliance to launch Stealth's Voice Peering Fabric (VPF) at the Bandwidth Exchange Buildings. The Voice Peering Fabric is a distributed Ethernet network that functions as an exchange or meet-point for Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) traffic. It is a private voice Internet allowing enterprises and service providers to establish peer-to-peer connections in a secure, quality-of-service environment. VPF is revolutionizing the telephony industry by allowing calls on different VoIP networks to be traded or accessed directly without the expensive and difficult task of traversing the traditional phone networks. For example, a call placed on the network of a cable provider utilizing a VoIP system can be routed to the office of a professor at a local university which uses a different VoIP system through the VPF without touching the traditional phone system. "The Voice Peering Fabric is an open marketplace enabling complete transparency between buyers and sellers of telephony services," said Shrihari Pandit, CEO and Founder of Stealth Communications. "The VPF Minutes Market and ASP Market enables service provider and enterprise organizations to instantly identify all the available networks and services, and provides access to the most competitive rates. Through the Bandwidth Exchange Buildings' newly deployed VPF node, tenants in the facility are able to get connected to these networks and services within hours. In addition, tenants can also access the VPF ENUM Registry, as a toll bypass system, to send and receive free telephone calls across the VPF with members of our ENUM registry." added Pandit. "The Bandwidth Exchange Buildings have always been the heart of the exchange of traditional phone and internet traffic." said Robert Guller, Managing Member of the Bandwidth Exchange Buildings. "The VPF will allow the Bandwidth Exchange Buildings to remain at the center of communications in our region. St. Louis is only the seventh city to list the VPF that, according to many leading experts, will soon be the major way for voice phone calls to be exchanged."
