Incognito Releases ENUMAugust 15, 2005 | Post a comment
no ratings VANCOUVER -- Incognito Software announced today at the CableLabs Summer Conference the release of ENUM Commander. ENUM Commander allows VoIP Service Providers to manage Inter-Office translation peering, hence removing the reliance on SS7 systems, simplifying operations and lowering the costs associated with service growth. ENUM (RFC 2916 and RFC3761) defines how telephony numbers and multimedia applications leverage DNS for resolving Dial Digits from Fully Qualified Domain Names (FQDNs) in the E.164 root directory. DNS uses Naming Authority Pointer (NAPTR) records to store and lookup NAPTR records which may have multiple Uniform Resource Identifiers (URI) per inversed Telephony number stored. The application also enables end-subscribers of the VoIP service to manage their preferences for incoming communications. "ENUM Commander has dual functionality that benefits both end-users and service providers," say Patricia Steadman, CEO. "The success of an ENUM solution will dependent on its ability to deliver carrier-grade number lookups that compare with the SS7 call setup process, distribute authoritative number plans (for peering purposes) to resolvers responsible for number lookup and its support for integration with core VOIP components. With over a decade of experience in delivering carrier grade DNS and VOIP solutions, Incognito is in the best position to deliver this functionality to the industry." At a performance level of 200 million records, ENUM Commander includes features such as real-time committing of changes, self-subscription to ENUM services, one way security and peering with various specialized resolvers that makes it possible to be at the heart of the new ENUM enabled multimedia services network.
