Upskill U Overview

Light Reading's Upskill U is an online educational resource that delivers "must have" education on themes that relate to the overall business transformation taking place in the communications industry.

Upskill U is a unique online site where service provider and enterprise decision-makers can crowdsource the mission-critical intelligence they need to formulate business technology strategies via expert lecturers and student peers -- and gain the business and technology know-how required to architect and monetize next-gen networks.

Our faculty of expert lecturers tackle the industry's thorniest issues, and show you new ways to address common problems and devise new techniques for getting closer to ROI. Our courses slice through the acronyms to focus on the business outcomes of implementing SDN, NFV, and addressing IoT, cloud, cyber security, MANO, 5G, analytics and other important developments -- rather than fixating on how those technologies work.

Each course will be handled in a 45-minute session where you can ask questions of the lecturer, interact with other students with similar business and technological challenges (and expertise) of their own, and download a wealth of additional learning materials. (Don't worry if you can't attend a particular course live seminars are also archived, and our online educational discussions take place 24 hours a day.)

As an enrolled student in Upskill U, you will earn credits for the number of courses that you attend. An algorithm based on the number of lectures you attend and your participation dictates your progress and graduation. You can track your progress in the school by clicking on your profile.

Graduation triggers all manner of good things: We send you a certificate (real, not virtual) signed by the Dean of Upskill U, Stephen Saunders, founder and CEO, Light Reading, and you will be recognized within the Honor Roll on the Upskill U website.

Indeed, we are living in extraordinary times. Communications technology is not simply an enabler of business, but the fundamental DNA that is giving life to a new global and digital economy. This is a time of massive opportunity for those tasked with building communications networks.

We know that senior decision-makers and network provider architects around the world are well aware that changes are taking place in the communications industry, and as always, the worst decision you can make is "no decision." The only way to assure success is to create business technology strategies that can transform your companies from what they are today, into what they must be in the future.

So don't delay. Click here to sign up now for your preferred lectures and become strategic agent of change, responsible for formulating business plans that make sense of, and money from, a huge wave of innovation -- including virtualization; white box networks; open source; all-IP; New IP; the disaggregation of network software from hardware, and so on.

This being the Internet, you'll want to arrive early for the best virtual seat!

Schedule At-A-Glance

Upskill U offers decision-makers the education they need to navigate the sweeping changes happening in the communications industry.
