MELBOURNE, Fla. -- AirNet Communications Corporation (NASDAQ:ANCC), the technology leader in software defined base station products for wireless communications, today announced that it has received approximately $1M in expansion purchase orders from TECORE Wireless Systems for deployment with GuineTel, a subsidiary of Portugal Telecom, in Guinea-Bissau. These orders are for the purchase of AirNet's latest AdaptaCell(R) 4000 XE base station, related equipment and services. The majority of the products purchased are expected to ship to the customer in the current quarter.
This order will expand the existing capabilities of the GuineTel network by increasing capacity and coverage significantly. In addition, GuineTel will now be able to offer GPRS to its subscribers enabling web browsing, sending images and accessing email.

Powered by AirNet's flexible broadband, SDR product architecture, the AdaptaCell 4000 XE is a compact, outdoor base station that offers the same twelve carrier, ninety-six traffic channel capacity of the flagship AdaptaCell 4000 base station in an all weather outdoor package small enough to allow pole mounting. In addition, the 4000 XE operates on either A/C power, in its minimal configuration, or DC power and supports SuperCapacity(TM) adaptive array technology and high-speed data.
