WilTel Launches Managed EWANFebruary 15, 2005 | Comment (1)
no ratings Managed EWAN is an extension of WilTel’s innovative Ethernet Wide Area Network (EWAN) service, which provides point-to-point Ethernet (E-Line) services and multipoint Ethernet (E-LAN) services along with seamless frame relay/ATM interworking capabilities. “Enterprises have had limited choices when it comes to contracting for Ethernet services, and in particular, for multipoint Ethernet services to their various corporate locations,” said Brian Van Steen, senior analyst at RHK. “WilTel's Managed EWAN service addresses this situation by offering national managed Ethernet services with improved options for reaching a greater number of enterprise locations.” Managed EWAN incorporates WilTel-deployed and managed equipment from Overture Networks on the customer premise, with native Ethernet interfaces that can support Ethernet circuits up to 1 Gbps in flexible 1 Mbps increments. The solution also provides customers direct Ethernet access to WilTel’s dedicated Internet access and MPLS IP VPN services, enabling a cost-effective means of aggregating numerous services over one access facility. “Managed EWAN delivers on two major needs for enterprises - simplified network management and reduction of capital costs and expenses,” said Tony Tomae, senior vice president of marketing for WilTel. “This is an example of WilTel's expertise in developing wide-area network solutions that are tailored to meet the needs of enterprise customers.” WilTel Communications Group Inc.
