AT&T Inc. is adding yet more 4G LTE coverage in the U.S. for the holidays.
An AT&T spokesman says that AT&T's LTE market is now up to 135 markets with 10 new towns and cities announced Friday. The latest markets are being lit up just days after Ma Bell added five markets to its growing list.
The latest markets are:
Ogden-Clearfield, Utah
Lancaster, Pa.
Harrisburg, Pa.
Providence, R.I.
Lexington, Ky.
Bowling Green, Ky.
Hartford, Conn.
New Haven, Conn.
Boulder, Colo.
Boise, Idaho
Why this mattersVerizon Wireless remains the 4G leader in the U.S. with 470 markets deployed. AT&T, however, has significantly increased the pace of its 4G LTE deployment as we hit the end of 2012.
This has been an exercise in getting more know-how on LTE and beating Sprint for AT&T in 2012. Clearly, they can't match Verion for LTE but they can talk about how much speed they have in their LTE cities and how they can blend LTE with HSPA+ for coverage.
