This Olde Website: 2012

It's time for Light Reading's annual cruise down memory lane to visit of the World Wide Web of yore. You know, when a dial-up modem and an introductory CD packed with the promise of 100 hours of free Internet access served as our window to digital delights. Or perhaps you went with another ISP of the day, and had the easy-to-remember email address of XUNJ9LWS@prodigy.net.

No matter from whence you came, delightful historic artifacts await you, as we have once again tapped the Internet Archive WayBackMachine to help take us on this year's nostalgic trip, which includes some Web shots of years gone by from Comcast Corp. (Nasdaq: CMCSA, CMCSK), Sprint Nextel Corp. (NYSE: S), Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE: VZ), Dish Network Corp. (Nasdaq: DISH), Boxee and a few others.

Okay, we're still 11+ months away from the next round...but any suggestions on Web sites of Olde that you'd like to see?  It's a fun  exercise, but I'd be pleased to get some suggestions...provided the WayBackMachine has access to those pages of yore. It's hit-and-miss. JB

Make Light Reading more prominent and get an archive of classic threads.  You can go back and get a chuckle from them.

Now I am going out on a limb and posting this (note if you are easily or even not so easily offended you are warned not to click).

This is an archive of the best threads from my old Everquest server which merged out of existence several years ago.  I "knew" many of the partipants quite well.  For example, I was guilded with the person Jennafae who started Svarien thread.  This was about aldutery and nude photos (which are long torn down off the net).
