MWC 2012 Photos: NEC Booth Tour

BARCELONA -- Mobile World Congress 2012 -- With our visits to Ericsson AB (Nasdaq: ERIC), Alcatel-Lucent (NYSE: ALU) and Nokia Siemens Networks completed, it was time to visit the NEC Corp. NEC was the fourth of six mobile network equipment vendors we visited with a photographer at this year's MWC and we gave them all the exact same challenge: Show us your three of your market-leading/cutting-edge/most important products and tell us about them in just 10 minutes.

The idea of the exercise is to determine what average visitors might be shown if they were trying to get a sense for what the major mobile vendors are focused on right now. All the companies were given the exact same advance brief, treatment and opportunity, to which some responded more readily than others.

So here's what we saw on the NEC tour, with the overall grade, based on perceived performance, relevance and other factors (some rather subjective), provided with the final picture caption. And spare a thought for Ben Butcher as you make your way through the pictures....

NEC did have a nice range of small cells on display, shame they ran out of time.  You can see them (fleetingly) on this round-up clip from Ubiquisys (go to 0.57s). http://ubiquisys.com/blog/mobile-world-congress-2012-at-a-glance/

Something definitely lost in translation here.  Would have expected small cells and the latest in backhaul solutions to feature on the menu for a LR booth tour.
