It's time once again to take a glance at the Intertubes yesteryear, recalling what the Web looked like when Netflix Inc. (Nasdaq: NFLX) streaming was barely a pipe dream, "cord-cutting" was how one released balloons, and Lucent Technologies and Alcatel had yet to tie the knot.
As we did in 2008 (here's what Hulu.com looked like a decade ago, by the way), we have tapped into the Internet Archive WayBackMachine to bring old Web sites back to life. (See This Olde Website .)
Just click on any of the images below to start another trip down memory lane and to see an array of antiquated Website screengrabs from the likes of Netflix, Clearwire LLC (Nasdaq: CLWR), Xfinity.com (before Comcast Corp. (Nasdaq: CMCSA, CMCSK) took over the brand), Vudu.com, Zeugma Systems, ESPN, and Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq: MSFT):
Xfinity.com B.C. (Before Comcast)
Well before Comcast started branding everything under the "Xfinity" name,
here's what Xfinity.com looked like in 2003. Got white space?
Merger In The Cards
Before it merged with Alcatel in 2006, Lucent Technologies sure made
some mean-lookin' business cards. This is from circa 2000.
Almost Video-Free
Back in 2000 – well before ESPN3 – one had to look long and hard
to find any streaming video on the sports net's home page.
