Mark Bowser, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Cox Communications, Inc.; Ann Carlsen, founder and chief executive officer of Carlsen Resources, Inc.; and Philip B. Lind, vice chairman of Rogers Communications Inc. were elected to three-year terms on the board. As executive vice president and chief financial officer of Cox Communications, Inc., Mark Bowser oversees accounting, financial planning and analysis, mergers and acquisitions, programming, legal, regulatory and government affairs. Highly regarded as an executive search leader and champion of workplace diversity, Ann Carlsen founded Carlsen Resources, Inc. in 1989, and the firm has since become the gold standard among boutique firms providing executive search and consulting services in the cable, media and telecommunications arena. Ms. Carlsen has served on the Cable Center's Development Committee for two years, and was also involved at the inception of The Cable Center, serving on several of the start-up committees in its first 2 years. She is a past President of the National Women in Cable and Telecommunications (WICT) organization, has participated on the national committees of The Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM) and the National Cable Television Association's (NCTA) convention planning committee, and served as a key member of the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications' (NAMIC) board for almost ten years. Phil Lind has been with Rogers Communications, Inc. for 40 years, and primarily focuses on strategic regulatory and programming and on expanding the scope of the company. Mr. Lind serves on numerous boards, including Rogers Communications Inc., Brookfield Asset Management Inc., Art Gallery of Ontario, Council for the Business and the Arts, Friends of Vancouver Art Gallery Board, the Atlantic Salmon Federation and the Central Canadian Public Television Association. In addition, Mr. Lind has served on the Board of the NCTA, the only Canadian to be so elected, and is a former Chairman of the Canadian Cable Television Association (CCTA). "We are pleased to welcome Mark, Ann and Phil to the Board of Directors," said Michael Willner, vice chairman and chief executive officer of Insight Communications and chairman of The Cable Center's board. "Their extensive industry knowledge and experience will be a real asset to us as we continue to move forward with our programs and initiatives that serve both the cable industry and the academic community."
