Stena Deal for Reliance GlobalcomNovember 3, 2009 | Post a comment
no ratings LONDON -- Reliance Globalcom, the leading global provider of managed network and communication services for multinational enterprises, carriers and consumers, today announced a contract extension with Stena Line IT Services – the global IT service arm of transport and travel operator Stena Line – to manage the distribution of live CCTV footage across the ferry operator’s European network. The new two-year deal, worth over $3.5 million, is an extension of an April 2007 partnership and will deliver high-bandwidth Ethernet services to key port locations across Scandinavia and Poland, enabling real-time CCTV security camera footage from all sites to be continually transmitted and monitored remotely. By utilising dedicated Ethernet connectivity from best cost local suppliers, all managed through a single, consistent SLA, Stena Line realised dramatic cost savings by not having to deploy any on-site security personnel, but still remained entirely compliant. “We knew that by installing the CCTV system and providing a fully secure, reliable and redundant network to transmit the footage, we would be able to avoid employing security staff on our sites, but still be fully compliant with the new rules,” said Hans Björkborg, IT Director, Stena Line. ”Reliance Globalcom has impressed us over the last two years with their versitility in network design and we felt confident the high levels of service assurance they provide would answer all the legal requirements. The final solution surpassed our expectations on both fronts and we have enjoyed considerable cost savings over the more staff intensive alternatives!”
