Ethernet Expo Awards Finalists Announced

NEW YORK -- Ethernet Expo Americas 2009, hosted by Light Reading(www.lightreading.com), the leading online publication for the telecom industry, and Heavy Reading (www.heavyreading.com), its prestigious market research division, announced the finalists for the Ethernet Expo Carrier Ethernet Awards today. The winners will be announced on November 3 at the Hilton New York, during the exhibition and cocktail reception at Ethernet Expo Americas.

"The carrier Ethernet network equipment market is one of the most dynamic sectors in all of telecommunications today," said Stan Hubbard, a senior analyst at Heavy Reading and Chairman of Ethernet Expo Americas. "Worldwide, there are more than 90 suppliers of Carrier Ethernet-related hardware and software solutions being used to support business services, consumer triple-play/IPTV/VoD, and mobile backhaul applications. The carrier Ethernet award finalists announced today should be proud of the work they have done to unleash the performance/price advantages of Ethernet technology throughout the Americas."

The individual awards and finalists are as follows:

Best Carrier Ethernet Access Solution

This award is given to the network equipment supplier that is shipping the best new Carrier Ethernet access platform (CEAP) in the Americas. Finalists include:

  • ANDA EtherEdge 4300 Mobile Backhaul Access Platform
  • Hatteras HN6100 Multiservice Platform
  • RAD ETX-204A Carrier Ethernet SLA Assurance Demarcation Device

Best Carrier Ethernet Switch/Router Infrastructure Solution

This award is given to the network equipment supplier that is shipping the best Carrier Ethernet switch and/or router infrastructure solution in the Americas. Finalists include:

  • Alcatel-Lucent CESR & ESE Portfolio
  • Extreme BlackDiamond 20808 Ethernet Transport Switch
  • Juniper MX Ethernet Services Routers

Best Packet-Optical Infrastructure Solution

This award is given to the network equipment supplier that is shipping the best packet optical transport solution in the Americas. Finalists include:

  • Alcatel-Lucent 1850 Transport Service Switch
  • Fujitsu FLASHWAVE 9500 Packet Optical Networking Platform, including new EoX Gateway
  • Tellabs 7100 Optical Transport Series

Best Marketing

This award is given to the network equipment supplier that his implemented the strongest carrier Ethernet-related marketing program in North America since last year's Ethernet Expo Americas. Finalists include:

  • Alcatel-Lucent
  • Ciena
  • Hatteras

Ethernet Expo Americas will also include the MEF Service Provider Awards. Those winner will be announced following the Ethernet Expo Carrier Ethernet Awards on November 3.

Ethernet Expo 2009, which includes a conference and exposition, will take place at the Hilton New York on November 3 and 4. This year's Ethernet Expo will be open to all press and analysts.
