Arris Converging (Video) at Expo

SUWANEE, Ga. -- ARRIS (Nasdaq: ARRS - News) today announced its lineup of converged multimedia demonstrations in Booth #7108 at this year's SCTE Expo in Denver, CO, October 28-30. Cable operators looking for cost effective, easy-to-deploy IP-based solutions will find a complete line of established and next generation products at the ARRIS booth, offering solutions designed from the Network Operations Center to the Head End, throughout the Distribution Network, and all the way to the end-user, viewing media on any screen.

Among the highlights are:

IP Video Solutions that seamlessly deliver personalized content and entertainment to subscribers on any screen. By leveraging IP Video over DOCSIS® 3.0, ARRIS lowers operational costs and accelerates new service deployment, improving overall operator ROI. Additionally, ARRIS will display Variable Bit Rate (VBR) Video delivery, a technological advancement that can increase video bandwidth efficiency by up to 50% and enable a simpler transition to IP for all service deliveries. VBR also improves video quality by eliminating the need for multi-location processing.

Advanced Video Processing - ARRIS will demonstrate 4:1 HD compression on the ARRIS VIPr® 2200, resulting in more efficient spectrum utilization and significant QAM channel cost savings. Additionally the VIPr platform's new ad splicing feature will be debuted. With its recent acquisition of EGT, ARRIS now provides multi-format, multi-resolution video encoding of MPEG-2, MPEG-4, SD and HD channels.
