Tekelec Closes Sale

MORRISVILLE, N.C. -- Tekelec (NASDAQ: TKLC), a leading developer of high-performance network applications for next-generation fixed, mobile and packet networks, and GENBAND™ Inc. (“GENBAND”) today announced that they have closed the purchase by GENBAND of Tekelec's Switching Solutions Group (“SSG”).

As previously disclosed on March 20, 2007, Tekelec and GENBAND entered into a definitive agreement for the sale to GENBAND of Tekelec’s equity interests in Santera Systems LLC and Taqua, Inc. and certain business assets of Tekelec’s former Vocal Data Inc. subsidiary. The transaction was completed on Saturday, April 21, 2007 in substantially the form previously disclosed.

Tekelec will file a Current Report on Form 8-K with the Securities and Exchange Commission (the “Commission”), with financial statements for the years ended December 31, 2004 through 2006 reporting the historical financial results of Tekelec on a pro forma basis. The Company will provide additional information on the impact of the disposition of SSG on the Company’s results from continuing operations for 2007 in connection with its earnings release for the first quarter of 2007 in early May 2007.
