Cox Picks Concurrent for Cleveland VOD Launch

Cox Communications has chosen Concurrent Computer Corp. as its video-on-demand (VOD) vendor in the Cleveland market. The two companies announced late last week that Cox will deploy Concurrent's MediaHawk 4000 VOD servers and related software in the MSO's Cleveland division, where it has about 73,000 basic cable subscribers.

Concurrent, the second biggest player in the cable VOD market, is already upgrading its older MediaHawk 3000 platforms to the MediaHawk 4000 servers in Cox's Las Vegas and Hampton Roads systems. The vendor boasts that it has now deployed more than 950,000 video streams in 24 countries.
