China Netcom selects Corning LEAF fiber for its next-generation optical network

CORNING, N.Y. -- Corning Incorporated(NYSE:GLW - news), a world-leading supplier of optical fiber, announcedtoday that China Netcom Corporation Ltd. (CNC) has selected Corning® asits principal optical fiber supplier. Corning will supply more than500,000 kilometers ofLEAF® optical fiber over the next three years as part of a long-termsupply agreement with the China telecommunications company.CNC will deploy Corning LEAF fiber in the significant network backbonethat will connect 17 major cities across southeast China. During itsfirst phase, the CNCnetwork will contain approximately 12,000 kilometers of cable.
