CoreExpress Buys Nortel Gear
CoreExpress, the first company to guarantee extranet
communications across multiple Internet Service Providers (ISPs), will
deploy Optical Internet solutions from Nortel Networks* [NYSE/TSE: NT]
under a multi-year equipment and services agreement valued at
approximately US$100 million.
CoreExpress also has the option to purchase additional Nortel Networks optical solutions as network expansion demands, bringing the potential estimated contract value close to US$300 million. Nortel Networks will provide CoreExpress with a complete, end-to-end network solution - including planning, engineering, and network management - to support initial deployment of a 22,000-mile, coast-to-coast, IP (Internet Protocol)-backbone network. This network is the foundation of CoreExpress' Internet Data Exchange System (iDES*), its platform for the industry's first multi-ISP extranet service.
