12:15 PM -- In these parlous times, some brave patriots in Congress are finally addressing a matter of vital national import, according to this AP story on The New York Times Website:

  • A House subcommittee has approved legislation aimed at forcing college football to switch to a playoff system to determine a national champion...

    But some lawmakers on the subcommittee said Congress has better things to do than legislating on college football.

Well, perhaps. But I really don't see what Congress can do about Tiger...
