ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Picometrix, LLC, an Advanced Photonix company (NYSE MKT: API), announced today that it has been chosen by a leading China provider of telecommunications equipment and networks solutions to supply the CR-100D for their 100G optical transport network equipment. Initial orders total close to $500K with potential revenue of over $2M for the next fiscal year.

"This is part of the much anticipated 'China Hockey Stick' that is expected to be the world's largest 100G backbone deployment to date," commented Robin (Rob) Risser, General Manager of Picometrix and COO and Director of API. "This 100G DP-QPSK design win with a major tier 1 China based telecom OEM is a validation that our efforts to penetrate the China OEM market are beginning to bear fruit and further enhances our position as a leading supplier in the rapidly growing 100G markets. The 100G markets are in the early adoption phase, and are expected to grow rapidly over the next five years to become the dominant modulation format deployed in the long haul and metro markets in order to support the wireless and wire-line bandwidth demands of high definition video and audio."

With patented technology, the CR-100D provides uncompromising sensitivity, which plays a role in reducing total system costs. The CR-100D is just one of an industry-leading suite of high-speed optical receivers that Picometrix provides to cover every modulation scheme for telecommunication systems. The Company's product offering includes 10G, 40G and 100G client-side and line-side optical receivers targeted at the long-haul and metro markets, and photodiodes targeted at the high volume access and fiber-to-the-home (FTTx) markets.

A CSP's digital transformation involves so much more than technology. Crucial – and often most challenging – is the cultural transformation that goes along with it. As Sigma's Chief Technology Officer, Catherine Michel has extensive experience with technology as she leads the company's entire product portfolio and strategy. But she's also no stranger to merging technology and culture, having taken a company — Tribold — from inception to acquisition (by Sigma in 2013), and she continues to advise service providers on how to drive their own transformations. This impressive female leader and vocal advocate for other women in the industry will join Women in Comms for a live radio show to discuss all things digital transformation, including the cultural transformation that goes along with it.
