First product out in April, second in the fall.

KAWASAKI, Japan -- Fujitsu Optical Components Limited (FOC) announced today that on April, 2015 it will be releasing an ultra-compact Integrated Coherent Receiver (compliant with OIF 2.0 specifications) supporting 100G DP-QPSK and 200G DP-xQAM for beyond 100G optical networks. The ultra-compact size is achieved by using PLC along with micro-assembly technologies for high integration and high density mounting of 90° Hybrids, Balanced Receivers, Polarizing Beam Splitters, VOA and monitor functions. This product will help facilitate compact, high performance and low power consumption optical network equipment for ultra-high speed optical networks.

Due to the recent rapid increase in the volume of communications traffic, the requirement for core networks and metro networks to handle longer distance, larger capacity, and higher density mounting has led to a spread of 100G optical networks using coherent transmission systems. R&D activities related to the commercialization of next-generation beyond 100G optical networks have also gained significant momentum. Compactly packaged high performance coherent receivers are required for the next-generation optical network equipment used in both core and metro networks.

FOC has successfully commercialized an ultra-compact integrated coherent receiver (1/4 in volume compared with conventional product) while maintaining the same high performance as the conventional coherent receiver. The ultra- compact size has been achieved by using PLC and micro-assembly technologies for high integration and high density mounting of 90° Hybrids, Balanced Receivers, Polarizing Beam Splitters, VOA and monitor functions. The receiver supports both 100G DP-QPSK and 200G DP-xQAM transmission systems. This product enables drastic size reduction for the receiving part of coherent transceivers while maintaining the high performance optical characteristics from the PLC. This product will help facilitate compact, high density, high performance, low power consumption optical network equipment for use in ultra-high speed core and metro optical networks.

KAWASAKI, Japan -- Fujitsu Optical Components Limited (FOC) announced today that it has successfully developed the mass production technology for a compact, low power consumption CFP2 ACO transceiver by using new in-house optical devices (compact semiconductor optical modulator and ultra -compact integrated coherent receiver). This product will help facilitate high performance, high density mounting, and low power consumption in optical network equipment. This product will be released in the third quarter of 2015./p>

Due to the recent rapid increase in the volume of communications traffic, the requirement for Core Networks to handle larger capacity and longer distance on their links has led to a spread of 100G optical networks using coherent transmission systems. In the near future, 100G optical networks using coherent transmission systems will also spread into metro networks and data center applications. High density mounting in next generation optical network equipment requires downsizing the optical module portion to the same size as a CFP2 transceiver and mounting the DSP (with the high power consumption) on the mother board. Although new technologies were tried over the world with the aim to downsize the required optical devices and achieve high optical output power, no solution has reached product level until now./p>

Through the downsizing of optical elements and the development of high density packaging and high accuracy mounting technology, FOC has successfully developed the mass production technology for new small size in-house optical devices (compact semiconductor optical modulator, ultra-compact integrated coherent receiver) and a CFP2 ACO transceiver using those devices.. This product supports not only 100G DP-QPSK but also 200G DP-16QAM transmissions. This product will help facilitate high performance, high density mounting, and low power consumption optical network equipment. This product will be released in the third quarter of 2015./p>
